News from the Uniformed Organisations

On Sunday 9th November 2014 Donna Hector, District Commissioner for Otley, and one of our own Leaders here at the Bridge Church, had the pleasure to present a long service recognition to one of our leaders - Tina Johnson.

Tina started at Brownies in our Church a number of years ago and moved up to guides, but by her own admission she only went to Guides because she wanted to be a Brownie Leader - which she eventually achieved.

Tina has now been a Brownie Leader at the Bridge Church for the last 30 years, and for three years served as District Commissioner.

Tina has already received her 30 year Long Service Award at a Girl Guiding awards event; however it is important that within the Bridge Church we celebrate Tina’s achievement.

Donna said “On a personal level, Tina has helped and guided me through my own Guiding career, and for that I would personally like to say thank you.

On behalf of Girl Guiding, 1st & 6th Otley Brownies at the Bridge Church, I would like to thank you and congratulate your fantastic commitment and enthusiasm you have shown over the years.”

On the same day, Group Scout Leader Christine Paterson was pleased to be able to present Emily Boswell  with her Chief Scout Gold award.  This badge is the highest award available in the Scout Section and it is gained by completing the Promise, Community, Fitness, Creative, Global and Outdoor Challenges and two of the following:- Outdoor Plus, Adventure, Expedition Challenges.

Emily had spent some of her time working towards this award by assisting Christine with the Leadership of the Bridge Church Beaver Pack.

The Uniformed Organisations could always do with more volunteers to ensure that this important provision for young people can continue here at the Bridge Church in Otley - if you have any interest in serving the Church in this way please contact Christine Paterson on 07929 600473 or email our Church Secretary at:-
