Update on Eating Stones Charity

Update from the Eating Stones Charity – The Bridge Church Charity for the year 2011/12

“The Bridge Church in Otley made Eating Stones their charity of the year for 2012, which proved to be a record-breaking year for us both. Through more than £4,000 that the church and their congregation raised, Eating Stones UK received its largest ever single donation which was also the most successful year of collection for the Bridge Church”.

Kitchen Improvements
The kitchen space has recently been relocated. It was moved to free up rooms in the main building but also to allow for better ventilation. This proactive improvement has made a big difference to all of those living at the site. Now that the shell of the kitchen is in place, further improvements, along with new utensils and cooking equipment, are required before this project can be classed as completed.

The Mistry Gardiner Library
Over the summer the team in Kenya have been cleaning and preparing the old kitchen so that it could be transformed into a quiet library space within the Eating Stones compound, as an asset for our children and those attending the Robert Henry Academy. Currently the room consists of a couple of shelves and a handful of books which we were able to buy at the end of 2012.

We have dedicated this library to the memories of two of our most important friends and fundraisers, Mitesh (Jack) and Tony.
